Have you every embarked on a journey with not only a destination in mind but a turn by turn playbook of how you were going to get there?

Whenever I do that I am in for a rude awakening.

Somehow I am not always given the same map as the Universe, or God, or spirit, or love, or whatever you like to say. (The name isn’t important, the energy behind the name is).

Starting my own business and writing my first book have been two of the most gratifying, fulfilling, fun, and scary things I have ever done. I have learned so much including:

I love, love, love to teach meditation and coach.
I love to serve others and help bring real, lasting change to their lives.
I can seriously do anything I set my mind to.
I really know what I am talking about!
My imperfections make me human and relatable.
My timeline isn’t always God’s timeline.

That last one is the killer, and it doesn’t just have to do with starting a business. Relationships develop at different rates than we want sometimes. Our kids don’t catch on to things like certain rules as fast as we would like at times, not to mention diets take a long time to work when we really want to fit into our jeans!

In the past year I have learned more about trust, surrender, patience and how to believe in the power of the Universe more than ever before.

I continue to understand and remind myself that when I serve from a place of joy good things come together. I have finally learned to detach from the outcome and relish in connecting with other like-minded souls and giving my all as I live my purpose.

Have you had an experience in your life where something didn’t happen just like you had planned in your head? If you are human, I am willing to go out on a limb and say probably yes! How did that feel? Were you frustrated and sad? Again, I am willing to say probably yes!

It is important to remember that every experience has something to teach us, and offers us an opportunity to learn, evolve, and grow. It is our job to allow things to flow by letting our intuition guide us instead of our fear-based, and often judgmental, ego. We also must detach from the timeline associated with our plans. We can do this as soon as we trust that the Universe is truly working on our behalf….and I promise that it is!

I have brought this concept into my life in an even bigger way recently by asking myself these questions in relation to conversations and experiences:

“Is this helping me move toward becoming my best self?”

“Is my comment or action going to move me in a direction that I am proud of, or may regret?”

Asking myself these questions before I take action in any way has really helped me to clean up my side of the street. I can’t control what anyone else does, only what I do. I want to live my life in a way that I can feel proud of in terms of how I act and what I say.

To recap, my tips for you today are:
#1. Surrender because our timeline isn’t always God’s timeline, and God has his/her sh*t together more than we do so let’s trust.

#2. Check in with yourself often. Are your actions and words helping you become the best version of yourself?

I hope that these ideas resonated with you today. If so, reply to this email and let me know, or post in the comments below. I love to hear from you!
