Many people already feel so pressed for time, and they don’t know how to fit one more thing into their day, even if it’s something like meditation, and they really want to.
I was asked recently if it is worth meditating for two minutes if that is all the time you have on a busy morning. The answer is YES!!!
Something is always better than nothing when it comes to meditation, and meditating consistently is way more important than how long you meditate for. Tell yourself that skipping a day is NOT an option. If you start skipping days it is easy to fall off of your routine. That being said, I do get that things come up. Travel, or a sick child can really mess with your routines. If you do fall off for a day or two, simply pick back up with your meditation routine. I always say that growth comes with recommitment.
I beg you not to tell yourself that a short meditation isn’t worth it. If you only have two minutes you will still be calming down your nervous system, focusing on one thing at a time, and clearing out a bit of stress from your body.
If you feel short on time, try one of these ideas:
- Match your inhale and exhale while at a traffic light. Make good use of the time!
- Take a few deep breaths in line at the grocery store.
- Count your breaths (up to ten and then start over) while you are in the shower.
- Do some belly breathing before bed.
Remember, you can’t mess up at meditating! Every meditation is a good one, even if it’s short.
